11:22 pm - Page Moved for Political Reasons
For reasons such as previous content, negative associations with my LiveJournal from last year, and a lack of interest in updating my page, I am moving to a new page at http://www.xanga.com/Whaleyland. Here I will do various short posts, as well as the usual goofy joke things, but only in my spare time. The chronicles of my live as displayed via LiveJournal are now going to be constrained as to not hurt anyone nor damage my own reputation. Please feel free to view my site at the aforementioned link. Thank you; this is Derek Whaley signing out one last time.

2:58 pm - PRESS RELEASE:
Due to the increased demands for personalized emails, as well as the posting of mass e-mails from my school in Wales, it is becoming both unncessary and tiresome to find time to also post on this forum. Much like joesuavo, LiveJournal has become an unncecessary burden. I will continue to read and reply to posts when time presents itself, but through my recent absence of free time and my increased work writing my book, The Lost History of Ireland: The Chronicle of the Pixie Wars, Book II: The Legend of the Blarney Stone, which is progressing quite quickly, the original intent of this journal is null and void. This message also goes for BlarneyTimes, which is wholly a worthless link as of now.

If you wish to receive email updates of my time in Wales, or would just like to contact me, you can do so by emailing me at Whaleyland@aol.com. Thank you and if you have any complaints, respond to this message and I will reply back.
-Derek Whaley

PS For those of you waiting for another email, I will send one as soon as I remember to write down on paper my phone number and address.

5:23 pm - Peaches and Cream
Hullo everyone, I am alive and well. I made it to Swansea and everything went well (except for the near loss of all my important files on the airplane). Internet is only available for free in the library but as of now, the library is very accessible. It will not be soon, though, because already 1/4 of the computers are taken and we are only missing about 9,500 students, most of whom will also only have free internet here.

Anyway, there really isn't much to say that is very interesting. I wrote the entire summary in a mass email which, if you would like to get, just email me at Whaleyland. To summarize, London was alright and Wales is cool, but Swansea is not as nice of a place as I hoped. The entire community lives around Pubs and Clubs and little else. Surely in the day they work, except on Sundays, but in the evening, all they seem to do is get drunk. They don't even dance at the clubs, they just drink. The depressing thing about that is, if you don't drink, you are screwed, and all the drinks are expensive. For that matter, everything is expensive; really expensive.

But I am doing fine and I should find out my housing info soon. Once again, if you want me to send you a postcard, just send me your address on the email address noted. No time for BlarneyTimes today. Later!

3:50 pm - Wales, D-Day Minus 1
All around the world, people stop and they see, 21 years old, my mother she told me so. 'Cause I...I just want to fly. Put your arms around me baby, put your arms around me baby.

Hello everyone and welcome to the new and improved Peace4Dexter LiveJournal. No longer will these be rants about my love life, stories from beyond, or worthless ravings about silly things. 'Why?' you may ask. Because I am going to Wales tomorrow and in Europe, everything is different.

Ten Reasons Wales is better than the US:
1) It's not run by George Bush (sorry guys, still don't like the man)
2) Everyone has (or should have) an accent
3) Strange languages are about that are often not heard else where
4) Coal mining is considered a cool profession
5) Girls and Boys, on the same hall in the same bathroom (scandelous?)
6) Easy access to other European ports-o-call
7) Homework is non-existent...everything is just reading
8) All new people to meet and know
9) Strange new customs and traits
And the Number One Reason that Wales is better than the US
10) It's not the US!

Sure some of those don't apply to all of us but for me, they do. Anywho, I am freaked out about going aboad with no one I know and no contacts whatsoever, but at the same time I am really excited because it sounds exciting and its not Point Loma. Heck, I will even be able to miss the election-debates this Novemberish.

With that said, I hope everyone keeps up to date on these new and open entries. blarneytimes will be updated later tonight and if you want to be added to my email list, just send and email to Whaleyland to be added. Currently that is my spam-free email so don't be using it for bad things. I don't have a permanent address or phone number in Wales yet but stay tuned.

I hope all of you enjoy the rest of your summer or enjoy the semester that has already begun. Peace and love, y'all!

11:24 am - Recap
No teacher has yet to give me a final grade...le grrrr. Still no contact with friends from school except via AIM. I beat Mephisto on Diablo II. That little bastard deserved what he got. The Big Leboski is so overrated. The New Guy is so underrated. Blue Collar Comedy Tour is simply ingenius. Besides that, nothing is new. Have yet to start work yet. I will probably work at the video store once a week and the Boardwalk the rest of the time. Fun fun. My dad is 50 today. Man I'm getting too old. Okay, gonna do something productive. Lates.

8:21 am - Obligatory Post
Okay, since I left you all on the edge after two nights ago, and since my dad is being annoying, I decided to post an unblocked summary of yesterday (and a little from before).

For those who could not read my last post, the zoo did not go too well. It was far too hot (like mid 90s) and Valerie does not take well to heat. She liked it, though. Nicole and Jason ditched us around 2:30, and from then on it was Miguel, Heather, Valerie, Matt, and me. Matt wanted to beat up the sealions in the sealion show. The whole trip kinda just failed and I was really mad because Valerie never thanked me.

So after coming back, being pissed, doing homework until 10:30 on Sunday night (I had to do this every night this weekend, by the way), I finally attempted to sleep but did not go unconscious until around 3, when I told Miguel to close the blinds. The room was over 80 degrees the entire night, as it still is this moment. I was not very happy in the morning either and only a random preview for a student pirate movie began my rise from pissed offness (oo, new word!). I didn't really get out of it entirely until sometime in my 19th Century history class, probably when Alish handed me a completed map with cool handwriting and I began writing my story again. I was a lot better by lunch time and even sat with Val and her former roommate. They really need to room together again as they work together well.

I was still pissed, but could be happy at the same time. Once again this shows how I can change my mood on a whim far too easily. The day rose to about 90 on campus with no seabreeze, and Dr. Wood would not open the door in our afternoon class either. Finally I got back to the room, called the Boardwalk and talked to Jenna (separate calls). I was going to do homework all afternoon but ended up only finishing my current events and double-spacing my bibliography (which lengthened it another 1/3 from its previous 1 1/2 spacing). I got 10 Things I Hate About You and The Count of Monte Cristo in the mail finally (three days late) but didn't watch either. Instead, we watched Nicodemus act really badly with Jakob just being cool on 7th Heaven. After that, I multitasked between Jedi Academy, SNL Celebrity Jeopardy, and The Emperor's New Groove. Miguel passed out at around 10:15 and I was gone by 11:15.

I'll update this later but it will probably be blocked to non-friends. I will update blarneyimes later too. Adios!

10:33 pm - The Blarney Times Press Release
SAN DIEGO, CA - Due to mixed opinions about my newspaper idea I have been using for the last three posts, I have decided to multitask it onto a separate livejournal named blarneytimes which will hopefully be updated in conjunction with this. This journal will more often be blocked to non-buddies although I will periodically post random things on here still. Bookmark and add the other site to your buddy lists for that will be the fun one. If you don't like it, TOO BAD!!!

8:46 pm - Late-Night Monday Issue of the Dexter Tribune
Local News:
*Heat wave attempts to tan local boy. Three weeks now and no tan present.
*Politics are warming up as Bush-supporters and Kerry-supports clash over political cartoons. Jack-Ass v. Dumbo next week.

World News:
*Much to the disgrace of Greek Cypriots, the EU has allowed new interaction between EU member states and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is only recognized as a state by Turkey, its benefactor.
*More Americans die in Iraq as riots break out in Fulluja. Bush blinks and walks into a bar. Cheney laughs then heads home to his big money tower (such as in Duck Tales).

*Padres lose against the reigning third place National League losers, the Arizona Diamondbacks, bringing the Padres' placement to around 10th place in the league.
*The basketball season will not end.

Consumer Report:
*Scholarships now requiring $1 application fees. Deadlines for anything important ended on April 15th. Students studying abroad next fall are doomed.

Dining Guide:
*Biola College ousts Point Loma's cafe by incorporating a Subway, Pizza Hut, and Mexican take-out into their already set Starbucks. Ratings for PLNU's Point Break Cafe plummet in comparison.

*10 Things I Hate About You acts as a modern-day interpretation of Shakespeare's the Taming of the Shrew. It manages to overcome all sex and racial barriers to present a story that is relateable to all audiences.

*Matt is too rich for his own good. He should find a job just to look productive.

*Man in search of woman who will call for no apparent reason. Sitting behind a computer all day without any social interaction is not healthy. If you touch that dial and call, you are in the game.

*Homework is done except the Cyprus paper and LIT206 busy-work. All my text books are done until finals. Oh, happy day. Now only if everyone else were as available as me.

Penny Arcade

*Translate anything you want into eight different pseudo-English dialects with The Dialectizer!

Book Review:
*Derek's Chart on Leprechaun Kings, a part of his upcoming book: the Lost History of Ireland, proves to be one of the most complicated genealogies ever accidentally written. Many features compare to the later house of Capet, after their integration with the houses of Navarre and Cadiz (Spain).

*Today - Sunny with mild coastal fog. Temperatures in the low 80s.

*Cyrpus trees act as many things from Christmas Trees to parking greenery. But not anymore for today begins the Cyprus purge! Americans unite as we destroy the once-lovly tree that is not a menace to society. A psuedo-Middle East country is named Cyprus and there are Arabs in the Middle East and all Arabs are Muslims and all Muslims are terrorists so destroy Cyprus trees! This message has been brought to you by the Republican National Committe on Cyprus Tree Reduction.

*Nirvana never dies nor does their music. Baby, it all Smells Like Teen Spirit.

*Want to see some typical Point Loma friends? Finally want to see what Valerie looks like when she doesn't have a knife? Check it all out here from My Photos at Yahoo!.

*Mario and Luigi rise with the sun this month but beware, if either hits the sun with their head, the balance on earth will be forever removed. Be nice to the Mario brothers and give them many shrooms. Occassional flowers are okay, but be wary if they begin to jump and spin. If you find a feather, give it to them for it is the only way they can leave.

Next Issue:
*Genealogy for Medicinal Purposes: Eating a Family Tree
*Galapagos Rebels on the Loose in Hawaii
*Christian Monitor Today states all White Anglo-Saxon Protestants are saved "by default"
*Voting Numbers Up as Naturalized Citizens Hit Their Heads on the Poll Tax

11:41 pm - Daily Blog with Peace4Dexter
Local News:
*Boy is awoken at 8:30 to the sound of his roommate. No murders reported.
*Miguel mentions sex to Nicole; her response is not negative. Wedding is in 7 weeks, hormones on the rise.

World News:
*Nothing happened that should be mentioned.
*Americans stop caring about world news.

Consumer Report:
*Tickets for the San Diego Zoo now are $32 per person plus parking. Couples do not get discounts. Sorry for the inconvience.

Dining Guide:
*College cafeteria makes student barf. Others watch in disgust. Third day that quesadillas are served, forgot to tell students they are two days old.

*Maverick wins more acclaim as it becomes Mel Gibson's funniest movie, in contrast to his recent The Passion of the Christ, which comes in as least humorous.

*Valerie is in search of a job for the summer. Children's camps are not an option.

*Man in search of woman who is not sweaty while needing comfort. Emotional trama is alright as long as it is accompanied by random happiness.

*Last minute current event reports are never a good thing. Read the assignment at the end of the semester and you may be ready by the end.

Penny Arcade

*Today - Sunny with heavy fog at times. Temperatures in the high 70s.

*Shorts for mooses are in right now, as well as wife-beater shirts for your little caribou pals. Get them at the e-store thise week or at your local Fall-Marts this summer.

*John Williams returns to the movie score scene with Jurassic Park.

*Pretty artistic pictures of Point Loma's Sunset Cliffs! View them here My Photos at Yahoo!.

*When in doubt, random pseudo-classical movie theme songs mixed with girls laughing can actually cause you to doubt yourself less, and doubt the sanity of society more. Avoid reading on Middle East-Europe politics this week. Bad omens abound.

4:23 pm - Monkey Awareness Week
*Recent reports from the front line shows a significant increase in morale for certain individuals who had previously been depressed. More to come as events develop.

World News:
*Turkish Cyprus is denied union with Greek Cyprus, the latter being admitted to the European Union next Saturday. This failure will benefit Greek Cyrpus and only result in problems for furture plans to unify the island.
*Aide finally comes for those who were inuured and killed in the massive railroad explosion in North Korea.

*The Padres are 6th in the National League with the Mariners in the lead.
*Basketball play-offs are still in progress.

Consumer Report:
*Todays choice DVDs are 10 Things I Hate About You and The Count of Monte Cristo. Both can be purchased for $13.84 American Dollars with no shipping cost.

Dining Guide:
*Chevy's Texmex is another decent choice but beware of money-leeching deathtraps. You may not have an expensive meal, but your pseudo-girlfriend may.

TV Guide:
*Alicia was stabbed in the back on Survivor following Shii Ann winning an immunity challenge. Shii Ann still dominated the chopping block.

*In theaters now is 13 Going on 30 with Jennifer Garner. Miguel gives this movie one thumb up and a dismembered toenail.

*Joe needs a job, give him one.

*Man iin search of a girl who is happy and flirty and likes to snuggle while watching a movie. Money-leeching deathtraps allowed if willing to snuggle eventually. Must be okay with a long-distance relationship for one semester. If your name is Valerie, you have a head start.

*I have been up since 7:00 and stayed up until 1:30 last night. I rambled something to Miguel when he got back from hot tubbing. I ran around all day frantically with large gaps of nothing. At least I got my homework done.

Penny Arcade

*Today - Sunny in the mid-70s; hazy horizon near dusk
*Tommorrow - Partly Cloudy in the high 70s

*This week is Monkey Awareness Week. Throughout this week, please take extra caution against undeclared monkey attacks. They may look cute and cudily, but they are not. You have been warned.

*Red Hot Chili Peppers are back but with an old album. Blood Sugar Sex Magik hits the billboard again on the Mariachi Club.

*Sources found that My Photos at Yahoo! have now released new images from the FujiFilm FinePix Telephoto lens. Captions will show their relavence to the FujiFilm Telephoto project as being conducted currently at PLNU.

*Those who seek will find Cartman's mom in a thong. Those who do not will run into a wall. Beware of succubi.

Tomorrows Issue:
*Rundown on the run with Val
*Homework in a nut-shell
*Cyprus: Tree or Island?
*Economics: Why I need a second mortgage.

current mood: flirty

How compatible with me are YOU?

For the rest of you, I've moved on from Blank-Page Syndrome to Too-Short-Yet-Complete Syndrome. I generally never run into this strange problem but just did. My Inquisition paper is finished. The problem, it is only 5 pages long. The required amount is 9-10 pages long. Luckily, I have yet to use any of my sources (been using various encyclopedia entries from Wikipedia which is one of the coolest encyclopedias because it is a contributor one with a lot of extra info most encyclopedias don't have. Look up any of the first 12 kings of Scotland; I did most of those entries. Anyway, so I think with the unused sources, the footnotes, editing, and incorporation of more biographical information on historic figures I mention, I can pull off a good last minute paper.

That is my only news for the day. Kinda sad. Nothing happened except I ran 7 laps and bought a nearly identical copy of my current watch. Old rusty is gonna be my alarm solely now. It's not retiring yet. Beyond that, its been a night!
